HAWK Offshore Heavy Transport

Take one of the world’s top five largest semi-submersible heavy lift vessels, then add the world’s largest jackup drilling rig and you get one of my biggest missions ever. We arrived in Singapore where the giant Maersk Interceptor jackup drilling platform was finishing construction. It needed transport to a drilling site in Norway, so the Hawk semi-submersible arrived to pick it up. Everywhere you looked was huge scale engineering and machinery on this mission. The Hawk has the capability to submerge half the ship, allowing tugs to pull massive cargo like the Interceptor into place over the ship’s deck, then ballast back up to raise it out of the water and secure it for transport. After the loading in Singapore, I met back up with the Hawk off the coast of Morocco and finished the voyage to Stavanger, Norway where Interceptor was offloaded.
